When he was admitted to the school his date of birth was registered as 12th August 1892. Dr. Ranganathan during his stay in Delhi University also felt inclined to accept August 12, 1892 as his date of birth ( Prof. P.B. Mangala). So, the official date of birth of Dr. Ranganathan was in general accepted as 12th August and this date is used for all official purposes. That's why; we are celebrating Librarians Day on 12th August.
