helo this is tricky question posed by one of our participants. one has to remember tht the knowledge and subject is same , except moulding the same to the needs of the organisation. the environment (including procedures, methods, activities, and overall work environment) makes lot of diff in making one has to work. They r time and communications conscious. their work is being calculated, assessed and evaluated. the timely delivary is imp. these things are very imp in corporate sector.   In osmania university, we hav more than 50% of the members of board of studies (which designs the syllabus) are working library professionals from corporate sector representing diff  types of orgns. we invite them to deliver lectures. their sugestions and interactions help us to know wht they wnt and they help us to design the curriculum to suit to their needs.   Our products go to these institutions for internship[ for two months after the final exams, which is helping them to understand real situation.   but let me say finally tht for few weeks every one and any one  (whn a senior is relocated)has to learn the things practiced by the organisations.   thanks prof. laxman rao osmania university --- On Mon, 24/11/08, vasanth raj wrote: From: vasanth raj Subject: [LIS-Forum] Corporate Librarians and special training? Economists’ likes of Joseph Stiglitz and Paul Krugman have propagating the humanistic economic policy with equal opportunity for every one.  Coming back to the topic – LIS schools have leveraging the technology and new crop of Information schools are in a way modeled to survive in the information rich world. Syllabuses of some of the information schools can throw some lights on how LIS schools can tune their curriculum to prepare their graduates in the 21st century.  Good thing is that library school basics have not changed lot-then why LIS departments prepare corporate librarians.
