My recent experiences with Mr Sanjay Bapat and www.indianngos.com has been
very disappointing-- they just do not bother to respond queries!

Subject: [LIS-Forum] Information/Sources on Orphans in India required
Dear All,
I am preparing a social welfare business plan. As part of this plan, I
require reports/details of the areas mentioned below. Could you please
assist?
1) Demographic profile of orphans in India
2) Profiling of orphanages in India - in terms of total estimated
orphanages, average number of inmates, expenses incurred per inmate etc.
In the second topic, I am basically trying to understand the demand and
supply details, how well on an average these orphans are cared for etc.
Thanks a lot.
Salman

Dear Member
Sub: International Workshop on Digital Resources Management, February 11,
2005, at M.S Ramaiah Institute of management Bangalore-560054
This workshop is specially designed for the librarians/ Information
specialists, computer specialists.
About the workshop :
Information availability in digital form has been increasing quite rapidly
in the last few years. In practice we have to deal with many types of
digital documents such as text-based word-processed documents, e-mail
messages, spreadsheets, presentations, scanned image documents, website
(hypertext) documents, multimedia documents, digital audio and video, and
dynamically interlinked documents. Increasing availability of various types
documents currently tend to blur the boundaries between types of stored
information, and increase the problems of capturing and retaining all
elements of files. Digital information overload is the recent phenomena and
people have been working to evolve suitable mechanism to address this issue.
We do not currently have universal standard in digital information
management however guidelines are available based on best practices. The
virtual archives of the future will be maintained not through accessioning,
preservation and provision of on-site access to
information, but through the control of information about stored
information, and its use to ensure relation, disposition and access.
Course Contents:
· E-information transaction and resources
· E-mail discussion forums, list servers, group mails, and professional
discussion lists
· Digital information archiving
· Customization and personalization of digital resources
· Digital access management
· Digital resources for e-learning
· Digital resources processing, metadata and intelligent search and so on.
· Integrating web resources in digital library
Workshop Expert:
Prof. Edward Proctor, Associate Professor in Library and Information
Science, South West Missouri State University, USA
