CALL FOR PAPERS Digital Library Initiatives: Challenges and Opportunities Dear Colleagues, The Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kashmir Srinagar (J & K) 1900 06 is organizing a seminar on “Digital Library Initiatives: Challenges and opportunities” in first week of November, 2006. The Seminar will focus on opportunities offered & challenges by ICT revolution in transforming traditional institutions like Libraries and information centers besides Govt and Business organizations in delivering and disseminating content and re-engineering services. The theme will be fruitful in understanding different technologies developed and adopted for digital libraries by many institutions or organization and to review their social, cultural implication as well The seminar will review different dimensions like planning, architectire, interoperability, scalability, metadata harvesting, digitization, social and cultural implications Preservation and multilingual implication, software imperatives, e-learning perspectives and case studies of digital libraries. The topics are not a comprehensive list and contributors can address other related issues.
