Dear Friends: The Madras Library Association (MALA)   Computer Society of India (CSI), Chennai Chapter   & Department of Information Science, University of Madras   Cordially invite you to a   Lecture Demonstration of eGranary Digital Library Project   by   Mr. Cliff Missen (Director, eGranary Project, University of Iowa ) and Dr. Padmini Srinivasan (Professor, School fo Library and Information Science The University of Iowa )     at 4.30 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2006   Venue: Department of Information Science, University of Madras Chepauk, Chennai 600 005   eGranary provides   millions of digital educational resources to institutions lacking adequate Internet access. Through a process of garnering permissions, copying Web sites, and delivering them to intranet Web servers INSIDE their partner institutions in developing countries, eGranary DL delivers millions of multimedia documents that can be instantly accessed by patrons over their local area networks at no cost.   It is a low cost solution and aims at bridging the digital divide. The cost of DL of 2.2 million documents on a 250 GB external drive would be just $350 per year.
