We are pleased to inform you that Christ University, Bangalore, in association with International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) is conducting a National Workshop on Information Management System: Strategies on E-Resources Management in Higher Education from February 26th to 28th, 2013 *Background* There has been a paradigm shift the world over, the way information and knowledge is being generated, stored, accessed, disseminated and consumed. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is the game changer in this and it has propelled the growth of large numbers of Electronic Resources across the world. In the electronic publishing ecosystem, scholarly E-Resources form a major stakeholder targeting the electronic information systems, researchers and the academic community. E-Resources extend numerous advantages to information systems and to the user community. They offer concurrent and multiple access to the content, remote access, multimedia facilities, online searching, and considerable storage savings. Information systems could also explore numerous resource base enhancement innovations such as the UGC Infonet, INDEST Consortium etc. and several Open Source Digital Library technologies towards making the library vibrant, resourceful, outreaching, accessible and visible. However, there are numerous challenges faced by Digital Libraries in managing these resources as each one has it own characteristics and particularities in its format and meaning. *Objective * Keeping in view the way information and knowledge is generated and the paradigm shift undergone by major libraries to e-resources, the main objective of this workshop is to empower users in Information and Communication Technologies working in university libraries and public service institutions.
