Dear LIS Professionals, I am coming out with a very comprehensive book of SV, Loss of Books and Weeding out policies and procedures in Indian Libraries. It would also be rather a comparative study. I have also collected about 20 documents relating to the above subjects which includes Government orders (State and Central) Recommendations (Associations) and Orders issued by Government departments and so on. In order to make is more realistic and to impress upon the authorities that be, to evolve some policies and procedures especially on Weeding Out (that doesn't exist so far as I know) and also some concrete proposals on other related subjects. I have small number of questions enumerated below. Pl. spare few minutes time to answer them as a feedback to the queries. 1. Do you undertake SV in your library and how frequently? Who is assigned the work. Librarian or the Institution Staff? 2. Do you have Writing off policy. If not how the loss is reckoned. Is library staff held responsible? 3.  Do you know the GOI Order (Amendment to Central Finance Code) of 1984. If yes did the same in incorporated in the State and/or Central Finance Rules 4. Do you undertake Weeding of collection? If yes do you have any policy or procedure in this regard.5. If you have weeded in the last 5 years what is the strength and what is procedure to dispose the weeded books or other documents. 6. Do you possess any order or a document recommending or criterion on writing off loss of books (Permissible loss) from your institution's library. 7.
