It is very sad to hear about the demise of K S Nagarajan, a veteran in
LIS. It is too tragic to learn from the newspaper today that he passed
away on Sunday and his wife passed away just two days later! A
knowledgeable and highly enthusiastic professional, he took passion in
developing a database on music after he retired from INSDOC. When Mysore
Library Association went defunct for long, and a few like minded people
joined together to revive it as Karnataka State Library Association
(KALA), he got involved actively in building KALA from scratch and was the
first Vice President of KALA.
May his soul rest in peace with his wife who followed him.

Not knowing anyone else in the family, I would express my condolences to the LIS fraternity. I have a special affinity for Shri Nagarajan. I met him for the first time when Dr Francis invited me to be a speaker for Dr Rajashekar's memorial lecture organized by the NCSI. Mr Nagarajan came and told me that he knew my father! My father (who I lost at age 13) used to work at the National Physical Laboratory, which was in the same premises as INSDOC and he told me how they often met for a cup of coffee in the canteen. He actually said all this to the audience, mentioning that he was sorry he could not stay for the lecture (his wife was not too well) and he wished me luck. For me - someone knowing my father was very special and wishes from him were extra special During another visit to Bangalore, I requested Dr Vagiswari to take me to visit him and I had the chance to meet both husband and wife. Shri Nagarajan showed me his pet project of cataloguing a music collection in a database that he created. He was full of passion about this project. I pray for both souls to rest in peace Vasumathi Sriganesh QMed Knowledge Foundation A-3, Shubham Center, Cardinal Gracious Road Chakala, Andheri East, Mumbai 400099, India Tel: 91-22-40054474 Mob: +919867292230 Email: vasu@qmed.ngo Web:www.qmed.ngo MMC Speaker Code - MMC/MASS/00030/2016 Member: Academy of Health Professions Education QMed's ELearning Course http://www.qmed.ngo/e-learning

Shri Nagarajan’s death is a rude shock and great loss to all the second generation LIS professionals like me. He was a dedicated follower of Dr SRR who pioneered application of ICT to library services- email for document/article delivery in the 1980s. He taught us Reprography at DRTC which was the state-of-art during those days prior to the arrival of Internet. He was an active participant in DRTC’s monthly colloquiums along with students. As a mark of respect and recognition we should bring out Commemorative volume on INSDOC, its services and people behind it. I express my deep condolences and pray May his soul rest in peace.
