Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) Indian Statistical Institute 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore, 560 059 SEMINAR-2 (2018-2020) Title- Linked data and its implementations in libraries Abstract Linked Data is a web based approach to publish information in a structured way so that it can be interlinked with other information on the web, and thus become more useful. Rather than using web pages for humans to be read, information is presented in such a way that it can be read automatically by computers. This seminar discusses the main principles of Linked Data, the underlying technologies, the background standards, and how it may be applied in Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) contexts. It provides an overview of how data can be published as linked data with Resource Description Framework (RDF) and also explains the role of vocabularies and Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI). This seminar also discusses how this RDF can be used to provide the information of the book with an example and the challenges that are present in applying linked data in libraries.
