Context and Purpose of the Seminar:
Libraries as empowering and democratizing institutions can engage communities by outreaching and taking up expansive roles which are confined not only to serving as information resource but much more. It is found that as powerful social institution with sizeable presence , libraries have started engaging with local communities by transforming themselves as socio- cultural & capacity building hubs globally and playing crucial role in the socio-cultural and economic development of their countries. The seminar intends to engage the participants in a discussion as to whether libraries can reposition themselves as nerve centers of community engagements by building capacities of common masses so as to partner with public policy programme for building an inclusive and equal society.
The format of seminar
The format of the seminar would be presentations by library professionals, invited talks by experts and a penal discussion on the theme. The proposed output of the seminar will be a report prepared in the light of deliberation and discussion held.
