We used to mostly mention the nett cost price (list price converted into Rupees - discount + postage & handling duly apportioned) as CP. In the case of books that are free, donations etc NP Notional Price is mentioned. This notional price is useful when the library patron loses or damages a book and has to pay the cost of the book for replacement. If the book is very rare, out of print or difficult to procure then NP may be much more than the cost price. This is to deter patrons from keeping with themselves books borrowed from the library and just paying the cost price! Students tend to misuse library facilities like this.
