Along with these, users want the relevant retrieval of documents in a single interface.In this context, discovery service has evolved as a savior to libraries and helping the libraries in pulling back its users by providing an alternative means for discovering content across a wide range of information. A discovery service is a single search platform that facilitates the central indexing of various databases and websites. In this colloquium, we will discuss the various types of discovery services, relevant technologies, and standards. We will also focus on gap analysis, the opportunities for future enhancement, and the best practices.
