On 5th & 6th October, 2012 Seminar Theme: Information Literacy in Promoting E-Resources and Its Empowerment for LIS Professionals About the seminar * * This seminar on Information literacy in Promoting E-Resources & Its empowerment of LIS professionals provides an opportunity to enhance our skills to meet the changing needs of the information society. Also help LIS professionals to improve their efficiency and effectiveness at workplace by improving his/her skills set. In the era of Information technology, Information storage and retrieval has become unbelievable. The uncertain quality and expending quantity of information poses large challenges to information users/Information seekers and library and information professionals. The available information resources are of multifarious in nature and ranging from printed documents, e-resources, WebPages, online databases of full text/Bibliographic journals and other multimedia format. The new paradigm emphasizes the empowerment of students and encourages them to take control of their own learning. In this age of information explosion, there is a need for LIS professionals to play vital role by educating the users about the potential resources and develop suitable devices to help in searching the relevant sources along with assistance to the user in evaluating the retrieved resources. Objectives of the seminar To create awareness among the LIS Professionals about the importance of information literacy and promotion library print as well as e-Resources. To train and create comfort level within the existing LIS professionals and encourage them to design Information literacy models to create awareness of e-Resources and empowerment of user community. To provide an opportunity to discuss various aspects of Information Literacy in promoting e-Resources and Its empowerment for Library & information Science professionals. * * To bring the librarians of various engineering colleges, corporate sector and other related institutes together to update them with advances in the field with the help of distinguished resource persons from industry & academia.
