sharing the experience with the Open source software NewGenLib
Dear Professionals I am sharing the experience with the Open source software NewGenLib. There is an update once in every 45 days (sometimes earlier but not later). In each of these updates NewGenLib team has incorporated librarian requirements/suggestions. I suggested many suggestions; they incorporated all of them in the software as and when new version is released. To Name a few - Import patron data from excel to NewGenLib - Bulk Import photos - SMS and email facility for Books transaction , overdue notice etc. - Overriding of Patron Id. - Promotion of courses - Batch import of invoice date, Invoice No. amount etc - In Web Opac uses them self can update their email and mobile no. and know no of books borrowed etc. All the facility/features are added at free of cost. Recently one more facility was added to Newgenlib i.e. self check in and self checkout The good thing about the system is that through their NGL Adaptation Program they have provided all the services like Installation , data conversion , online training, upgradation, New features, latest technology….etc absolutely free of cost. It was not just for my library but to all libraries I have recommended to go for this adaptation program. When ever I have any kind of a problem or a issue I always had NGL team to help me address the problem immediately. And through Internet they resolve my issues almost instantly. Being a user of NewgenLib Open Source I highly recommended Newgenlib for my fellow professionals.
