Dr AL Moorthy, Director Desidoc receives SR Ranganathan_Kaula Award
Dear Colleagues, In a recently held function at Delhi Library Association, Dr. AL Moorthy has been conferred with the SR RANGANATHAN_KAULA AWARD AND CITATION for the year 2009. Shri Anil Kaula, Managing Trustee of the Prof. Prithvi Nath Kaula Endowment for Library and Information Science handed the award and citation to Dr. Moorthy. This Award is conferred on eminent library professionals each year. Dr Moorthy is recipient of other prestigious awards like the DRDO Best Popular Science Communication Award-2009, SIS Fellowship-2009, ILA-Kaula Best Librarian Award-2008 and ILA-CD Sharma Best Paper Award (2008) and have delivered Prof. MR Kumbar Memorial Oration at the Karnatak University (2007), Dr. PSG Kumar Oration at RTM Nagpur University, and Prof. S. Dasgupta Memorial Lecture (both in 2011). He received commendation letter from Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister (1989). Congratulations to Dr. Moorthy for one more feather in his cap! Dr. A L Moorthy also delivered the 13th Prof. S. Dasgupta Memorial Lecture on "IPRs in the Digital Environment" on the occassion of the 73rd Foundation Day Celebration of the Delhi Library Association (DLA). At the same function, while Dr. Moorthy was conferred the RANGANATHAN-KAULA AWARD for the year 2009, Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Head, Department of LIS, Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, Kota was also conferred the RANGANATHAN-KAULA AWARD AND CITATION for the year 2010. Dr. Gupta is well known for his many contritutions to the library marketing and management literature. He is a Member of the Standing Committee of IFLA Management and Marketing Section and Chair of the Jury of IFLA International Marketing Award. He has edited a few books on library marketing for international publishers and is also on the editorial advirosy baord of the Emerald journal, "Library Management".
