Congratulating Prof. Amudhavalli, University of Madras on her Retirement
Dear Colleagues: Please join me in congratulating Prof. Amudhavalli, Professor and Head, Department of Library & Information Science, University of Madras who is retiring from service on the 31st January 2017. “HEARTY CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR WELL-DESERVED RETIREMENT MADAM!” During her almost four decades of eventful and productive professional service to Library & Information Science, the longest inning was with the University of Madras, which has the rare distinction and identity in our profession owing to its founder Dr. SRR and its accomplished successors. Prof. Amudhavalli has held many key positions in the Department of Library & Information Science, and in the University of Madras and at MALA (Madras Library Association). She has given her might and contributed relentlessly in enhancing as well as keeping the highest standards and traditions of the Department, which has earned substantial respect during the years. Truly a star professor and a multifaceted Guru, that transcend the LIS Profession, she has selflessly and boundlessly enabled and empowered many universities/institutions/professional associations in the country and abroad, in many capacities. She has also intelligently taught and meticulously coached thousands of students and also produced many M.Phils and Ph.Ds. Madam, we will indeed miss you in the Department but your words of wisdom, the timeless knowledge that you have imparted and the ever green principles you held in high esteem, will never be forgotten by your colleagues and students. WISHING YOU THE BEST OF LUCK, A VERY HAPPY, PEACEFUL AND HEALTHY LIFE AHEAD! M.G.
