Rapid acceleration and multiplication of the sources generating information are also observed. But the problem of availability accessibility, and use of information remains constant even in these days of ICT and digital technology. Content management is a way to help ensure easy flow and use of information in any environment. It is a process to create, manage and store information. Virtually it is an online information management. Content Management is, a newly coined term, in vogue for the past few years, although especially the business and corporate units have been handling it continuously for decades unknowingly, undefindly. Curiously, the term content management has evolved not by those who have been handling and using it but by the software communities. Content means information that is published or, made known to public. IASLIC being the national professional organization, its sole object is to extend its expertise to make the information professionals effective, help update and upgrade their knowledge and acumen to stimulate and strengthen the information activities. The present course with a little theoretical input would be practical based. *Course Contents* * * Defining Content Management Content Life Cycle Content Acquisition Why to Manage Content Fundamentals of Content Management Guidelines and Standards for Content Management Organisation and Storage of Contents Metadata Search Routines Content Management and Knowledge Management conflict or coalescence Content Management Team Practicals* Using Jumla* *Who can participate in the Workshop* * * Persons with MLIS Degree or working Professionals with at least BLIS/MCA degree employed in Library and Information Centres/Technical Information Centres/R & D Units/Academic Institutions or in MIS/DSS or in any other Information Centres in the corporate houses.
