We understand the things more when we visualize. Data visualization (i.e., presentation of data in a pictorial or graphical format) easy the data analysis by helping in grasping the difficult concepts or by discovering new data patterns, and therefore enables better decision making. Today, data visualization has become a rapidly evolving blend of science and art that is changing the information landscape and will continue to change the way the analysts work. In this seminar, we will discuss the idea of data visualization, the various types of data visualization and its strengths in analyzing the data. We will discuss some of the open source and commercial data visualization tools and techniques. We will demonstrate the online social media monitoring and analysis tools like BRAND24 and Keyhole. We will conclude the seminar by discussing the applications of data visualization in Library and Information Science including its issues and challenges.
