Training and guidance can help improve the quality of reviews. This workshop will: ● Introduce librarians to the larger evidence synthesis ecosystem. ● Discuss how systematic reviews (and other types of evidence synthesis reviews) differ in their expectations and conducting processes from a traditional literature review, and ● Highlight some initial considerations to discuss with researchers to ensure they are well-equipped to begin the right type of review. ● Share librarian perspectives from various fields outside of the health/medical sciences *About the resource person:* *Dr. Zahra Premji* Dr. Zahra Premji is the Health Research Librarian at the University of Victoria. She holds a Master’s in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from the University of Alberta, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) and Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Chemistry from the University of Calgary. Since becoming an academic librarian in 2016, she has found a passion for evidence synthesis. As a librarian with evidence synthesis expertise, she regularly collaborates with review teams from a variety of disciplines and has co-authored more than 20 reviews. She has also presented workshops at various conferences including the Academy of Management and the US Agriculture Information Network conferences. In 2022, she led the implementation of Evidence Synthesis Institute Canada to offer training opportunities for librarians. *Mrs. Aditi Gupta* Aditi Gupta is the Engineering & Science Librarian at the University of Victoria Libraries. She received her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of British Columbia in 2004 and has worked in libraries for over 19 years. She is currently the Visiting Program Officer, EDI for the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL). Aditi’s research interests include equity, diversity and inclusion, and social justice in libraries, inclusive teaching practices, information literacy instruction, and information-seeking behaviours of visible minorities, international students and multicultural populations. Aditi is the past recipient of the ALA Diversity Grant (2015-2016), the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute’s Collaborative Research Grant (2018-2020), NSERC Science Communication Skills Grant (2021-2022) and the Learning & Teaching Support Innovation’s Anti-Racism Grants (2021-2023). We believe this would be a wonderful opportunity for all library professionals to learn more about this important topic.
