Dear Members I cordially invite you all for NCSI-Net monthly lecture scheduled on 20th of August 2011 (Third Saturday) at NCSI Seminar hall at 11.00AM. Details of the Talk: Topic: Unconferences for LIS professionals in India: A case study of “LibCampBangalore” Speaker: Nandeesha M, Knowledge Management Consultant, SAP Global Delivery, Bangalore Date & Time: 20/08/2011 at 11.00 AM Venue: NCSI Seminar Hall, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore About Lecture: Conferences are the most widely used platform to meet fellow professionals, develop network, exchange views and share knowledge. However, unconferences gained attention recently as an important platform for meeting people and sharing knowledge on common interests. The content and structure of the unconferences are decided by the participants. Unconferences work on the principle that the collective knowledge of the participants is more valuable than the traditional conference speaker. “LibCampBangalore” was the first ever unconference for corporate library and information science professionals in India. The first “LibCampBangalore” was organized by Information Resource Centre (IRC) of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bangalore on March 7, 2009. So far, three “LibCampBangalore” unconferences have been successfully organized. Nandeesha will share his experience in architecting LibCampBangalore and this unconference becoming an effective platform for building professional network and knowledge sharing. About Speaker: Nandeesha M is currently working as Knowledge Management Consultant with SAP Global Delivery, Bangalore, India. He has 9 years of experience in Information and Knowledge Management. He started his professional career with Developing Library Network (DELNET - http://delnet.nic.in/), New Delhi and later worked as Knowledge Officer and Information Analyst with Information Resource Centre (IRC) Unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS - http://www.tcs.com). He is a member of the Newsletter Editorial Board at Asian Chapter of Special Libraries Association (SLA - http://units.sla.org/chapter/cas/index.html), USA.He has a post graduate degree in library and information science (MLISc) from University of Mysore and a post graduate degree in computer applications (MCA) from Indira Gandhi National Open University.
