Deshapande Endowment Lecture (13) is being organized by the Prof.K.S. Deshpande Endowment Lectures Committee, Bangalore, in collaboration with the Department of Studies in Library and Information Science (MyDLIS), University of Mysore; and Mysore Librarians and Information Scientists Association. The lecture will be held at the MyDLIS on 5th May 2014 at 3 pm. In this connection an essay competition is held for BLISc, MLISc, MPhil and Regular Ph.D students of library and information science in India. The best top three essays will be awarded with cash prize and a certificate. The topics with terms and conditions for the essay are as follows: a) A student shall write an essay on any one of the following topics: · K.S. Deshapande: The Man and the Librarian · Public Libraries of India in Prospect · Do libraries wither away? b) A student shall write one essay only. Multiple entries from the same student will not be considered for competition. c) The essay shall be in English language only. d) The essay shall not be more than 1000 words. e) The essay shall be sent to kadaba.n.prasad@gmail.com on or before 20th April 2014 by email. f) The essay shall be sent as a PDF document. g) The participant shall also send a scanned copy of the bona-fide student certificate from their respective LIS department along with the essay. h) The student may receive the prize in-person on May 5th at the function to be held at Mysore. Local accommodation and hospitality will be arranged on request to the winners. For those winners, who can't attend the function, the cash prize in cheque and the certificate will be sent to their postal address.
