The Hamdard Library Organises an inaugral function of its automated library system on september 18, 2004 at 4.00 p.m. at the Hamdard Convention Centre Hall No. 1, inaugrated by Mr. Mohd. Ali Ashraf Fatmi, Honble Union State Minister, HRD. Late Hakim Abdul Hameed Saheb, a renowned physician and humanist, eastablished Jamia Hamdard in 1989. The central bibliographic Resource Centre, Hakim Mohd. Said Central Library boast of more than 1.5 lakh bibliographic records including a marvellous collection of manuscripts in veriety of languges and subjects. To make the collection of library available to the academic community in accordance with the demand of modern automated environment, the university library has undertaken a project of computerising its various activities. To this end we are using the LIBSYS library application software. It is Worth mentioning with a degree of pride that the Jamia Hamdard Library has the unique distinction of achieving a satisfactory level of computerization of all its activities from the book acquisition to its cataloguing, classification and issue to return. It will not be out of place to appreciate our quickest implementation of the intricate processes of automation.
