A two-day workshop sponsored under TEQIP-II by the COE in Knowledge Analytics and Ontological Engineering (KAnOE) to introduce participants to the exciting field of analytics. Participants get a broad overview from an expert in the field of data analytics. They need not have in-depth knowledge of statistics or previous exposure to analytics. The first day provides an introduction to empirical analytics including its tools, methodologies and issues. The second day focuses on time-series analysis with a case study with a real-world dataset. Resource Person: Dr. K. Suresh Chandra, Professor and Head (retired), Department of Statistics, University of Madras. He has over 40 years of experience in his field. His research interests are Inference for Time series, Inference for Branching Processes, Sampling Methods, Frontier regression, Hierarchical Linear Models, Chaos Theory, and Analysis of Weather data. He holds an M.Sc. (1960) and PhD (1980) from Madras University. He has also worked as an Honorary Professor, Madras School of Economics (2004-2008), an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of Botswana, Gaborone, Botswana (2000-2002) and a Research Scientist, DNAPrint Inc, Florida, USA (2002-2003).
