How to integrate Google Transliteration API in Koha OPAC
Google Transliteration (http://www.google.com/transliterate/) is a useful online tool for cross walk between international and regional languages in India. You can type in your own language and convert the same in to any India language without any hassle. The same service can easily integrate in Koha OPAC to enable search in Indian languages. Type keywords in Google Transliteration input in English and put a space, it will convert your English language keyword in your desired regional language. Copy paste the converted text to Koha search box and press search button. It will give retrieve records in regional language stored in Koha. How to do it 1. Go to Google transliteration API page, http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/#Transliteration 2. Find the section “Transliteration control with multiple languages” 3. Copy the code and paste in Koha > System Preferences > OPAC > Main User Block 4. If necessary, you can change the values in Default language, Source language and destination language 5. Save the content in “OpacMainUserBlock”. Transliteration box will appear in Koha OPAC page. You can also find the API for single language transliteration.
