Dear all Computerisation has its advantages and disadvantages. For example , if you have the administrative privileges it is possible to delete a certain entry in the database or edit it. You may be able to mislead the management by entering a different title against a lost or missing title by editing all data except the Accession Number. Accession Register on the other hand will give you complete record of an accessioned item and any editing is easily visible. Thus it is a tool in the hands of the librarian as well as the management to see that no maltreatment has happened to the accessioned records. Because, if the Library is fully computerized, then we can get all the information in a fraction of second. Now my doubt is- Is there any necessity of Accession Register for the computerized Library OR Is it waste of time and energy to write all the information in the Accession Register?
