CONCEPT NOTE: ICT is an enabler. Impact of ICT and its applications have improved the quality of our lives and will continue to do so if the potential is properly harnessed for the benefit of humanity. The Age of Information has transformed the developed nations in the tail end of the 20th century, and now it is poised to have an equally dramatic effect on developing nations. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has helped libraries of higher education to improve information resources and services. Library is a gateway to knowledge. These repositories of knowledge must become an integral part of education, and research. Advancement in information technology has changed the face of traditional Libraries. The Library and its environment is leading towards the concept of electronic Library i.e. paperless documentation and information which could be stored, transmitted and retrieved from anywhere…anytime. Hence to improve efficiency and effectiveness in Library services library professionals need to re-orient their activities. We hope that this seminar will discuss and assess the forth coming challenges and determine the future course of Library. OBJECTIVES: (i) To identify the ICT infrastructure of the college libraries. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION Established in 1944. Govt. E. Raghvendra Rao P.G. Science College, Bilaspur is one of the oldest institution of this region . Formerly known as Science College, accredited B+ by NAAC has developed into a prime institute of basic sciences in the Chhattisgarh state and is discharging its duty to society by providing quality education at undergraduate, postgraduate and research (Ph.D.) level in accordance with the growing needs of learner. During the month of march (at the time of seminar) Bilaspur generally observes a pleasant atmosphere having no rainfall. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF PAPERS • Only two authors are allowed on a joint paper. • Abstract should not exceed 150 -200 words. • Abstract/Research paper be sent on or before 20th February 2012. • The title page should include the title, name, address, telephone no. along with institutional address. • The full paper should not exceed 2000 words and should have references in APA style • Use of A-4 size paper & Times New Roman font size 12 for English & krutidev-10 for hindi is recommended.
