"Digital Teaching Reference Book Service: A Case Study on Knowledge-Object-Based Microstructure of Digital Resources." 3. Bharati Sen & Nahid Khashmelmous, India & Sudan. "Incorporating Indigenous Knowledge Materials: Preliminary Efforts at Elhafeed Library, Ahfad University, Sudan." 4. Pradip Upadhyay & Madaswamy Moni, India. "e-Granthalaya: Moving Towards Rural Digital Library for Sustainable Rural Livelihoods." 5. Yashwant Kanade & K.S Chudamani, India. "A Discourse on Promotion of Reading Habits in India." 6. P Jain & Parveen Babbar, India. "Digital Library Initiatives in India." The theme of this year?s contest was "Information Realities: Shaping the digital future for all?" The six winning papers were selected from 31 submissions by 42 authors from 12 developing countries. The principal authors of each of the six winning papers will be awarded a two-year individual membership to ASIST. In addition, the first place winner, Aditya Nugraha will be awarded a minimum of $1,000 to attend the November 3-8, 2006 ASIST Annual Meeting, in Austin, Texas. These winning papers and other submitted papers for the competition will be considered for publication by Elsevier's International Information and Library Review, which is edited by Toni Carbo. Thanks to the generous donations from Eugene Garfield Foundation, Elsevier, the Chicago Chapter of ASIST, University of Western Ontario, Drexel University, Kent State University, LACASIS, and many other organizations and individuals. Your efforts have enabled us to continue with the International Contest. Further fundraising is underway and donations are still welcome to support the contest. Congratulations to the winners! The Contest Committee worked really hard in selecting the winning papers. The paper contest was organized by Duncan Omole (Chair) and Jonathan Levitt (co-Chair) from the Open University and University College London. Promotion of Library Automation and Networking in North East Region (PLANNER) is special initiative taken up by Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET) to bring awareness among library professionals in the of field Information Technology and its application to Library Service in the last three years. After the overwhelming response and success of first three PLANNERS, INFLIBNET proposes to organize its fourth event PLANNER-2006 at Mizoram University, Aizawl (India) during 9- 10 November 2006. The main theme of the convention is Digital Preservation, Management and Access to Information in the twenty first Century Paper Submission Solicit papers in any areas of theme and sub themes. All accepted papers will be included in conference proceedings. Each paper should contain at least four keywords and hundred words abstract. Authors are also requested to send brief bio data along with one passport size photograph. Papers should be submitted electronically at planner@inflibnet.ac in by 31st August 2006.
