Seeks guidelines for building Book bank scheme.

Dear LIS professionals, We would like to start a BOOK BANK system for our Engineering Library. It will be appreciated to get valuable information to implement the system. My major concern are whether a separate accession is to be maintained. ,how will we differentiate titles in book bank in Library software system, if so will it overlap with other collection, how can we customize the maximum number of books students can borrow. Any way I will be grateful if provide my all the procedures from the very beginning to operate an error free BOOK BANK system. Dear Mr. Zachria There is no need to have a separate series of Accession Numbers for Book Bank. Either one can follow the practice of keeping the books belonging to Book Bank in a separate section with specific provision of a separate circulation counter meant for the Book Bank beneficiaries only; or one can have a provision made in a library software which transfer the books to Book Bank and from Book Bank to general circulation section. Another provision in the library software which allows for making only specific student eligible for Book Bank facility can take care of the maximum borrowing limit including the books from general stack. Hope these suggestions may be of some help. Regards Dr. T. Dear friends , As per my knowledge I think some identifier is required to differentiate the book/s from the general collection than that of Book Bank . If transferring the book of the same organization/ institution then accession number need not be changed but a prefix as identifier would be better logger even in the library software also that should be marked . Even it will fetch a better report on its utilization, and thence can help in selection process also . Hope I could express my opinion clearly.
