The purpose of the workshop is to familiarize participants with the Koha software which is an open source software, developed by Katipo Communications, New Zealand. The training provides the technical know-how to the participants from the installation, customization, backup /restore, upgrade as well as running various modules of the software. Text Box: About Koha Koha is a full-featured open-source integrated library system developed initially in New Zealand by Katipo Communications Ltd and first deployed in January 2000, for Horowhenua Library Trust. It is currently maintained by a team of software providers and library technology staff from around the globe. Software supports all modules of Library Management System such as Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control and Web based OPAC. The software is UNICODE compliant. It runs on any operating system such as Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, FreeBSD, and Solaris. The software is easy to install, upgrade and is distributed under the General Public License (GPL). Software is built using library standards and protocols to ensure interoperability with other systems and technologies and provide a platform-independent solution. The workshop will cover latest module installation and configuration of Koha. Koha has been widely all over the world and in India many libraries are switching over to Koha from proprietary software available with them.
