Hans Peter L uhn is credited for the development of Key Word in Context Indexing. This wa s a technique that used small computer programs that printed strings of title words, the representation of which was made in alphabetical sequence. Luhn’s system triggered a transition from Manual to Automatic Indexing. The concept propounded by him was used by small search engines for information retrieval. Colloquium discusses the use of indexing techniques by modern day search eng ines like Yahoo and Google. Apart from these the efficiency or precision of respective techniques would also be highlighted. The present symposium also holds relevant discussions regarding usage and application of the aforementi oned softwares that procures indexed words after a textual content is provid ed as its input.
