And save it at different location or in different name. Hope this work for you. (b) Open the DTP Version in its native format (Normally with PageMaker) and export the publication into PDF format. (c) PDF files obtained in such a manner are light and best as compared to other methods. (ii) For Publications where DTP Version is not available: (a) Scan pages having TEXT ONLY with scanner resolution 200 DPI in black and white. (b) Scan pages having B/W DIAGRAMS with scanner resolution 300 DPI in black and white. (c) Scan pages having COLORED DIAGRAMS with scanner resolution 300 DPI in COLOR. (d) Scan pages having COLORED PHOTOs with scanner resolution 600 DPI in COLOR. (e) Save as Multi-page PDF file. (iii) In case text searching is required, but display quality does not matter: (Files obtained by scanning as above) (a) Use CAPTURE Feature of ACROBAT (iv) In case text searching is required but display quality can not be compromised: (Files obtained by scanning as above) (a) Use a OCR Package and save as Document File format (Word) (b) Proof read Document Files obtained and manually correct errors introduced in OCR Process. (c) Print / Convert Document Files as PDF Hope it helps, SUKHDEV SINGH, NIC. On Wed, Feb 23, 2011 at 4:39 PM, Vinit <vinitbhu06@gmail.com> wrote:
Dear Dr. DP Prathap,
Use any good pdf editor and optimize the file for web use. The quality will be a bit diminished so you can give an option to download the file of size in addition.

dear colleages
please clarify....
when we convert printed pages into pdf ?by scanning, the file size is very big (in MB even for a few pages), kindly provide information as how to reduce the file size.
while downloading pdf articles from the Net / online databases, the file size is very small (in KBs only) for a few pages.
thanking you
