Dear colleagues I went to Kerala University UGC-JRF-grants section to enquire about full time research in LIS.I told the section clerk that i wish to join for full time research by availing 3 year leave without allowance .As i am a permanent employee now in MG university ,i need to take leave without allowance for doing full time research.The section clerk told me that i can register as a full time research scholar,but cannot avail JRF grants from UGC.He opines that grants are only meant for the unemployed,and none was given fellowship in Kerala university who availed leave without allowance or none did full time research after getting leave without allowance..He further said that if i want to get grants under JRF scheme ,i should go to UGC and obtain permission to avail JRF grants.He advised me to go through UGC X1 five year plan document to get more information regarding this!!! i wish to get advice from LIS-FORUM members 1)is there any norms from UGC prohibiting in availing JRF grants(full time research) for employed persons even if they took leave without allowance from their current service? i expect a speedy reply Jasimudeen.s Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam Kerala -- Jasimudeen.s *Life is like a document:what matter is how good it is ,not how long it is"* * * *"Be in touch,I am just a mail away not a mile away"..* -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
