Dear Members      NCSI-Net lecture for the month of August 2011 held at NCSI seminar hall on 10th December 2011. Around 15 members and fellow professionals were present. Lecture (Demonstration) started on Innovations in Library Automation Process: The Trion Journey” by Sven Carlson, CEO, Trion AG. Speaker started his talk by explaining the traditional library concepts and how he entered in to the field of developing library technologies. He highlighted the role of front desk operators in maintaining cordial relation and attracting patrons to use the library resources, he also spoke about how it can be automated to self check-in and check-out mechanism using RFID technologies and making service available for 24X7. He gave demo of Trion technologies like self-service kiosks, Automatic sorting and transporting them to right floor (right rack) etc. The video presentation of libraries who have implemented Trion technologies was interesting. He also talked about the costs involved in implementing these technologies in the beginning of planning new library and implementing in the later stage. There was a good interaction from the audience.
