Dear Friends, The Indian Academic Library Association (IALA) has submitted its memorandum to the UGC-PRC committee. We have been called to make our presentations at Hyderabad and Bangalore. We have also sought their appointment at Delhi also before finalization of their report. The members of the IALA have met all the PRC members personally at New Delhi in their offices and residences including the chairman Prof.Chadda and Member Secretary Shri.Chouhan. The Chairman and members are very much convinced of the gravity of the problems of the Academic Librarians and have assured us that they will look in to the issues sympathetically. Now the committee is visiting the professionals in one university in every state. Accordingly the committee has met in the following places: University of Pune Gouhati University, Guwahati Jadhavpur University, Kolkata. Now following are the places the committee is visiting in the month of June and July: 1. Baratulla Viswavidyalaya Bhopal 16th and 17th June 2008 2. University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad 19th and 20 th June 2008 3. Patna University, Patna 23rdand 24 th June 2008 4. Bangalore University, Bangalore 25th and 26th June 2008 5. University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram 27th and 28thJune 2008 6. Gujarath University, Ahmedabad 29th and 30 th June 2008 7. University of Delhi, Delhi 2ndand 3 rd July 2008 Friends, now my request to all of you is that, I have already tried to enclose an attachment along with the message placed on the different forums. Unfortunately, except IALA Forum and NMLS forum in other forums we could not communicate the attachments. Hence now the memorandum to be submitted to the PRC committee is put on the IALA website http://iala.org.in please download the same and print and submit in your respective places. Please do not wait for getting an invitation from any of these universities where the meeting is being held. Please volunteer yourselves and enquire in the above places and seek for an appointment with the committee and submit this memorandum to the chairman of the committee. Fortunately the committee has explicitly allotted a slot of 45 minutes for Librarians and Physical Education Directors.
