Dear Mukesh I would like to add a bit at the end of Vijayakumar comment on RDA. 1. Apart from FRBR and FRAD, RDA will be based on new set of principles (known as IME ICC principles) 2. IFLA alreday conducted 4 International meeting on cataloguing principles (this principle will replace the vintage Paris Principles) and the fifth & final meeting is in South Africa this month. 3. RDA will include not only bibliographic materials but also many other information bearing objects available in many forms and formats. 4. The draft RDA is already available through the URL http://www.collectionscanada.ca 5. There is a new approach in revising AACR2 Rules. To incorporate the online envirnement, the new Code will be know as "RDA:Resource Description and Access".

Present AACR2 has only "Description" part, ie describing an item. New code will have an added part "Access", ie access control of an item. FRBR is the basis for Part A (Description) of RDA, and FRAD is the basis for Part B (Access Point Control).

As per the schedule made by Joint Steering Committee, it will be published in 2009.

Is Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 3rd Edition (AACR3), which is based on Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) & edited by a Canadian Information Consultant (probably) Tom Delsey has been published or not. It was expected to be published in the year 2007.
