Spreading red colored paper (gift wrapper - porous and absorbant variety) on the shelf partitions will help. 2. Naphthalein balls, not very cheap though, would also help. 3. If wooden cup boards are used they may be painted red - the color you find in old printed books in paintings - vegetable based printing ink. 4. 'Gemmexine' dusting would also help. 5. If the atmosphere is highly humid (say, near sea side), Dishes containing Calcium Chloride (any desicant will do - even plain crytal salt) may be kept inside closed book cabinets. Such salt containers must be changed frequently with fresh salt. 6. Frequent de-dusting would help. 7. If the books (manuscripts) are rare, you need to seek professional help say from: National Research Laboratory for Conservation (NRLC) - Lucknow. Vyasamoorthy, P [original truncated message] I am looking for a simple, low cost, eco-friendly method for preservation of personal collection books at home.
