Please circulate the following message via the lis-forum The United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) is happy to announce the 2007 International Fulbright Science and Technology Award for PhD study at top U.S. institutions in science, technology, or engineering. This new award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and is designed to be the most prestigious international scholarship in science and technology. The International Fulbright Science and Technology Award reaffirms Americas pre-eminence and competitiveness in the fields of science, technology, and engineering, as the U.S. remains the most attractive destination for serious scientific and technological research and study. In the first year of this program, approximately 25 awards will be offered worldwide for candidates who demonstrate unique aptitude and innovation in scientific fields. USEFI requests that you bring this announcement to the attention of outstanding Indian students. Application deadline is July 31, 2006. Eligible fields of study include Aeronautics and Astronomics/Aeronautical Engineering, Astronomy/Planetary Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences/Engineering, Engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology/Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Information Sciences/Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Mathematics, Neuroscience/Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Oceanography and Physics. USEFI will forward two nominations to compete with candidates from all over the world for this fellowship. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State will fully fund grants for up to three years under this program and will provide tuition and fees, monthly stipend, applicable allowances, medical insurance, roundtrip airfare and a J1 visa sponsorship for up to five years. Academic placement (university admission and other formalities) of the selected scholars will be handled by the International Institute of Education (IIE).
