OAI-PMH functionality in NewGenLib

Dear Friends I am happy to announce that NewGenLib, the library automation and networking software developed jointly by Kesavan Institute and Verus Solutions Pvt., Ltd. has now added functionality to harvest metadata from open access archive repositories that use either the Dublin Core or MARC-21 (MARC-XML) standards. The harvested metadata points to the URL of the digital content. The functionality also allows a library to archive publications of its own researchers in the library's catalogue database. Since NewGenLib allows networking of several libraries in its networking/consortium version, a Host library can harvest metadata from Associate libraries and vice versa. Other libraries that might want to harvest metadata from NewGenLib databases on the web can do so as records in Dublin Core, MARC-XML or in MODS (Metadata Object Description Schema), an XML schema, intended to carry selected data from existing MARC 21 records as well as to enable the creation of original resource description records. We would be happy to provide clarifications and more information on this new development.
