Are Libraries going to fade into oblivion as museum of books or disrupt the information domain to emerge as the champions in the big and open data for the years to come. About the Speaker Prashant Pandey is currently the Director of Content Development program at the State Library of Queensland. He leads the Content Strategy, Digital Strategy and Online Engagement Strategy for the Library. His program provides visitors to State Library with physical and virtual access to Queensland’s diverse collections and services. Collection strengths include the Australian Library of Art, the John Oxley Library of Queensland history, and one of Australia’s foremost music collections. Services include onsite and virtual information services (including free statewide access to a number of eresources), free internet access, business information, photographic and digital reproduction, preservation and conservation. Previously, He was Director – Digital Library & Innovation at Deakin University where he was responsible for providing leadership and direction in delivering Deakin University’s Digital Library of the future. In 2012 his team won two Vice Chancellors award for outstanding contribution to academic support and building effective partnerships through the successful embedding of the institutional repository (Deakin Research Online, DRO) within the Deakin research landscape. He started his library journey as Senior Information Technologist in the Digital Resource Services section of the University of South Australia’s library and over this period was responsible for establishing the Digital Institutional Repository and the development of the software in support of the open access initiative. He has also worked with VTLS, an international library system vendor. As Director for Asia Pacific Operations and Manager VITAL product. He has a very high level of understanding of the technological and digital opportunities the Library may embrace as it moves towards the delivery of its Digital Library Strategy.
