National Institute of Fashion Technology New Delhi in collaboration with IFLA - Art Libraries Section Organises ICLAM 2011 (International conference on the Convergence of Libraries, Archives and Museums) February 15 to 17, 2011 Venue : India International Centre, New Delhi Theme : User Empowerment through Digital Technologies About the Conference: The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will organize an international conference in collaboration with the Art Libraries Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) from February 15 to 17, 2011 in New Delhi. The venue of the conference is the centrally located and prestigious cultural hub of Delhi - the India International Centre. The theme of the conference is User Empowerment through Digital Technologies. This is the first conference in the series titled “International conference on the Convergence of Libraries, Archives and Museums (ICLAM)” and NIFT’s third initiative to promote cross-sectoral collaborations in the knowledge sector in India. Empowerment of users is the key concern of all information service professionals. At present the most challenging issue is serving the technology-empowered users who easily metamorphose from consumers to creators or producers of information. Libraries, Archives and Museums continuously empower their systems and services with dynamic digital technologies to serve the users more effectively. This conference will offer a forum to discuss the theme of empowerment of users from multiple perspectives – ranging from user interface technologies to empowerment of disadvantaged user communities. The issue of empowerment is also related to affordability and sustainability of digital technologies particularly in this age of financial instability. Library & Information professionals and conservators, as end users of open source and commercial software, will also discuss trends and problems. Various infrastructural, organizational and technological options including partnerships of various sectors will also be discussed. Presenters will be in-charge of these sessions and will facilitate discussions. Guidelines for submission of papers : · All manuscripts should be unpublished original work and should be submitted with a covering letter signed by the author/s. The letter should mention the theme and sub-theme under which the paper falls. Please refer to the list of sub-themes under 'Call for papers’. · The author/authors should provide following information: Name/s, address of the institution, and author for correspondence along with telephone no., fax no. and e-mail id. · Paper should be submitted in MS Word (2000) format and of maximum 3000 words. Power point presentations without accompanying text will not be accepted as papers. · The Abstract and Paper should confirm the following guidelines: Title of the paper (in bold 14 point font size & Times New Roman font type) Full text and abstract should be single-spaced, A4 page size, 10 point font size, Times New Roman font type Name(s) of author/s, their Institution, city and country Abstract of approximately 150 words along with maximum five key words Paragraph heading and sub-headings in bold 12 font size & may be numbered in bold. · The margins may be set as follows:- Top: 3 cm Bottom: 3.8 cm Left: 3.8 cm Right: 2.5 cm · Page numbers should be placed at the bottom of each page, centred on the width. Underlined words are to be set in italics. · Tables and figures may be numbered in Arabic numerals and sources cited clearly. These should appear in sequential order in the text. The corresponding tables or figures should either appear within the text or should be placed at the end of the article. · Maps and figures have to be given as reproducible artworks ready for press. · Follow the APA style of citation for all references and bibliographies. · Papers and presentations must be in English only since interpreters can not be provided. · Last date of submission of paper: 30th November, 2010 Who can participate?
