Dear all, In Maharashtra, Some Librarians go on Cease-work(Strike) with the Teachers Association's for Sixth pay Commission etc. and these association also kept them with them to show numbers to the government... Now Most of them feel they have done a great mistake by joining these association in the Cease-work... Because now, the Association is doing nothing for setting up the 'Compensation mode of Librarians' . As Librarians are non-vacational teaching staff, they cannot compensate during the vacations, so some principals have decided and ordered on their own to their librarians to compensate first and third(or second and fourth) saturdays and 2-3 hours more each day... But... That compensation is not re-cognised by university or government yet... so they will accept it or not? It is a big question for now... As the government constantly insisted on compensation of 36 full days against 36 Cease-work days, there is no any provision till today of hourly compensation... One option of surrendering Earned Leave has also come forward... but accepting Earned leaves in lieu of Cease-work days directly means that the Government has legalised Cease-work and hereafter EL's will be given against compensation... The Association is also not doing anything in this regard though they know everything... Hence, It is my kind advice to all the Librarian colleagues "never go on Cease-work with the Teacher's Association here after... as they just let you join the Cease-work when they need 'number support' to show to the government and they even dont care about librarians after Cease-work called off." -- Ajay M.
