National Workshop on "Open Archives Initiative (OAI) and Institutional Repositories with DSPACE" to be held at ISEC, Bangalore between 26-27, June 2006 The Institute for social and Economic Change (ISEC) is a multi-disciplinary research and training institute in Social Sciences. It is one of the major ICSSR research organizations established by Professor V K R V Rao, in the year 1972 in Bangalore. ISEC Library and ICSSR will be jointly conducting a National Workshop on " Open Archives Initiative and Institutional Repositories with DSPACE" between 26-27, June 2006 at the campus of ISEC, Nagarabhavi PO, Dr. V.K.R.V Rao Avenue, Bangalore-560 072. The Institute is well equipped with fully air-conditioned seminar halls, a computer lab, a meeting room with Multi-media and OHP facilities. The Workshop will arrange invited lectures cum demonstrations and practical experience on computers (afternoon sessions) by eminent scholars and experts in their respective individual subject fields. The topics to be covered in the above workshop are: 1. Introduction on "Digitization of Library and Information Centres". 2. Open Source Digital Software for libraries 3. DSPACE Software 4. Open Archives Initiative (OAI) and Institutional Repositories 5. Creation of OAI and Institutional Repositories with DSPACE Regisration fee: There is no registration fee. Accommodation: The organizers will provide accommodation by charging a nominal fee of Rs. 125/- per day per participant at institute's guesthouse. Eligibility for participation: The workshop invites two participants from each organization - One from the Library and another, a computer professional, from their systems department. Total number of participants has been restricted to twenty from ten organisations only. Preference will be given to the participants from ICSSR funded research institutions and other social science research institutions. Registration is accepted on first cum and first served basis. The resource persons will come from DRTC, Bangalore and IGIDR, Mumbai.
