Forwarded posting on behalf of SRELS and EC, KALA Dear Professional Friends, It is time again for us to join together to celebrate the Librarian’s Day in this month. The Sarada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science, Ranganathan Centre for Information Studies, and Karnataka State Library Association (KALA) along with the PES University are organizing an event to mark the celebration of 126th Birth Anniversary of Dr. S R Ranganathan. Special attraction of this event is the inauguration of a new series of books called – “S R Ranganathan Classics’. The title of the first volume in the series is – “The Science and the Profession of Libraries - A Visionary's Perspective”, S.R. Ranganathan Classics -1(A collection of 20 papers). This 125th Anniversary Commemoration Volume will be released by Prof. P Balaram, Former Director, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru. The papers in this volume indicate the very wide range of topics on which Ranganathan wrote. The Sarada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science, founded by Ranganathan himself, thought it appropriate to bring out this collection as part of its efforts to ‘Revisit Ranganathan’ and, particularly, to introduce the present generation of LIS professionals to some of Ranganathan’s ideas on different aspects of librarianship and Library and Information science. Details of the event are as follows. Date: 9th August, 2018 Venue: MCA Seminar Hall, Prof. MRD Block, PES University, 100 feet Ring Road, BSK 3rd Stage Bengaluru- 560085.
