Sad demise of Dr.T.B.Rajashekar - Lose of An Inspiration
I am greatly pained to hear the sad demise of Dr.T.B.Rajashekar. It was difficult to believe as only few days back he replied to my personal email commenting on OpenMED [ http://openmed.nic.in ]. Dr. Rajashekar was the key inspiration to me for OpenMED. He was one of the great professional we had in our times. His contribution to the profession and his inspiration to many young professionals, especially for initiating the Open Access Movement in India, will be remembered for ages. My heart felt condolences for bereaved family and pray almighty for his soul to rest in peace. --Sukhdev Singh, Principal Systems Analyst, Bibliographic Informatics Division, National Informatics Centre, New Delhi
I cannot bring myself to believe this at all. When I first glaced at the mail, I assumed for a split second that Dr. Rajashekar had posted an obituary about someone else. Only then it struck me that I was reading a bit of very shocking news. It somehow does not seem true at all. There is absolutely no doubt that it is a HUGE loss for our profession. Not only his contribution till date, but all that he had set out to do - especially Open Access Archives, and then all the teaching................I wonder if there is a limit to what he would have achieved. I wonder, if those of us who knew him well could get together and do anything for his family (I really am not sure what - at this moment). If anyone from Bangalore would take the initiative and let others know - it would be nice.
