Subject: Book Lost and Replacement
Dear Librarians,
In case of replacement ideally one should accept exact copy or latest
edition of a book (lost) if available, and not any book. For the purpose
every library should have replacement policy where it should be mentioned
that in case of loss of document what will be the options [i.e. copy or
payment] available to replace a copy.
In our library the policy is replacement will be exact copy [latest edition
if available] or double amount of the market price of the available
book/edition. In case of lost of out of print / not available in market
fine amount to be paid.
Further, fellow librarians shall mention name and Library address in full
while placing a query to this forum with due respect. As others will spend
some time to answer your query. They should know for whom they are spending
efforts.
