Friends: Whenever an author publishes a paper in a journal the publishes sends a copyright agreement form, which is often restrictive, and would not allow the author to eithera archive his paper in his institutional archive or even use a table or figure in his lecture notes or a book he wants o write without levying a fee! To overcome this ridiculous situation the author could modify the copyright agreement using one of the fillowing addenda, says Peter Suber. Librarian friends may please alert scientists they serve. There are many different author addenda but in my view these are the best: SPARC Author's Addendum http://www.arl.org/sparc/author/addendum.html Science Commons Scholar's Copyright project http://sciencecommons.org/literature/scholars_copyright SURF-JISC License to Publish http://www.surf.nl/copyrighttoolbox/authors/licence/ Arun [Subbiah Arunachalam] Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com
