Managing knowledge is a challenging task. In the past, the dilemma was in finding enough information, but now the problem has shifted to identifying and managing the knowledge. Knowledge Management (KM), the process of capturing, developing, sharing and effectively using organizational knowledge, is inevitable, at least, in any product and service based organization. In an organization KM can play significant roles in terms of improving the performance, enabling the competitive advantage, innovation, the sharing of lessons learned, integration and continuous improvement. The goal of this colloquium is to provide an overview of KM, to discuss the cutting edge tools and techniques. We also discuss some of the KM best practices in context of academic libraries.
