Prior to joining as faculty member in the DLIS, University of Kerala, he was a librarian in Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram. He has more than 34 years of service as teacher as well as professional librarian. His areas include public library system, scientometrics and library automation. He held various positions as Head of DLIS, Director of School of Communication and Library Science, Hon. Director of University Institute of Technology, Chairman of Board of Studies, Member of academic council and Senate of the University, Nodal Officer of Anti-ragging Cell and so on.
