Even if the workof librarian different than teahers ; he gides the user community to get the required information from huge stock of knowledge, he guides the student to complete the projects, Some librarians guides the M.Phil & P.Hd. students. So he is the Teacher of Teacher. But unfotunately he is not given the importance as the faculties are given.so for the status of librarians are concerned he or she needs to improve overall performance by working hard to optimum level . so that he wil be given status. However, to get the status there is a need to have some sort of representation in BoS,Senate in university. so that librarians will be able to place their problem on such a platform. this wiil help in improving libraries,services then automaticaly the status of librarians. This type of discussion is going on in maharashtra is a welcome step. I am in favour of this step & I request all college librarians to be a part of this movement for betterment of Liraries,This is the response to Mr.Desale, Ass.Librarian, University of Pune.
