Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems were introduced as the decisive technological response to digital piracy pertaining to digital content. The distribution of digital content over the Internet via file-sharing networks has made traditional copyright law obsolete in practice. To cope up with this situation a DRM system tends to stress upon the copyright, the management, control as well as distribution, concerned to a digital content. The study intends to examine the application of DRM systems, their need and relevance. The study will further evaluate how DRM affects the digital content and its user and explores the relationship between them. Also, focus is given to how corporate sector make use of DRM systems, various technological advancements in DRM, as well as, an analysis of existing practices.
